Israel trying to negotiate a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine is the first time Israel has taken such an active step on the global stage. Luke 21:29-33 starts with Jesus telling his apostles, and us, a parable about the fig tree and all the trees. The fig tree is the rebuilt nation of Israel. The other trees are the other major nations of the world. When the trees shoot forth, you know summer is nigh. The leaves shooting forth are the countries showing their nationalism.
The verses before, Luke 21: 25-27, tells of the latter days and end times of the Gentile age, specifically of a Sun, Moon and Stars event, men's hearts failing and the Son of Man returning. This is a seven to ten year time covered in three verses, putting this into a succinct module.
The parable tells us when to look for these events to start. Israel is putting forth 'leaves' and so are the other nations. The trees are shooting forth; summer is nigh. Likewise, we can know the Kingdom of God is nigh.
